Garage door springs only have so many cycles in them — the number of times a garage door can go up and down in a spring’s lifetime. When a spring breaks, you’ll hear a loud pop, almost like a firecracker. Hopefully no one was near the spring when it snapped and the spring doesn’t damage any property like your car. These springs are under incredible tension and can cause severe bodily injury if you’re not careful. That’s why we don’t recommend replacing your own garage door springs. Always call a professional for this repair. They have both the tools and the expertise to replace your springs safely and effectively.
